Built by Gregg Car Co., Belgium, for Commonwealth Railways (Central Australia Railway). Thirty of the fifty NVDs to Port Lincoln Oct 1980-Jan 1981 and Mar-Apr 1984. Officially renumbered ENBA1-30 2 Apr 1985. ENBA1-3 designated as accident train vans by Aug 1985. Seventeen vehicles converted to ENHV grain hoppers 1986-87. ENBA4-8, 16, 18, 22, 27 and 30 stripped for conversion to ENHV but work never completed; bodies stored at Grantham. Thirteen additional NVDs were converted to ENHV for Port Lincoln but never ran as ENBAs.

Note: The conversions given from ENBA to ENHV are 'best guess' from the surviving records, some of which conflict. ENHVs 9, 12, 13, 18, 22 and 29 were converted from ENBAs 9, 11, 12, 15, 17 and 21 in some indeterminate order.
